An experimental platform for creating 6-sided interactive films
In 2014 we collaborated on an experiment called 'The Cube', giving filmmakers, musicians, artists and creatives the ability to make a six-sided interactive film in which the audience control the narrative.
Sounds trippy? You should have been in the room when we were trying to work it out - it was like watching Inception in reverse.
To create something for the platform filmmakers produce six separate films which are wrapped around a 'cube', which a viewer can manipulate to choose their own path through the story. The audio is synchronised with the cube's movement.Because the audience controls their own narrative each experience is completely unique. It's engaging, bizarre and unique stuff. The kind of work that straddles tech and story and imagination and keeps us up until the wee hours of the morning.'The Cube' was first launched at Semi Permanent in Sydney in 2014 and was developed through Google's Creative Lab in Sydney. At the launch event users were given the chance to not only interact with the platform but actually play with a physical installation.
