Physical installation, video

To help celebrate the 40th birthday of the Sydney Opera House, we teeamed up with Google Creative Lab and Tellart to install a very special pair of binoculars on the footsteps of Australia's most beloved building.

By tapping into Google Street View, tourists and locals peering in to the pair of vintage binoculars were transported to an international trip to the most iconic destinations in the world.

From the Colorado River to the Palace of Versailles, Shackleton's hut in Antarctica and that empty dam or canal thing in Los Angeles where all of the best car chases in movies seem to end up...

Just kidding. Google couldn't get the film rights to record there. The list of 40 iconic destinations, all experienced from right in front of our own icon, was something special to behold.

Grumpy Sailor operates on lands belonging to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, and the Boon Wurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) peoples of the Kulin nation.

We acknowledge these traditional owners and we pay our respects to leaders past, present and emerging.
